Wooster Building Renovations
SUCF is seeking Statements of Qualifications from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the full renovation of the Wooster Building at SUNY New Paltz. The building was constructed in 1967 as a science building with exposed cast in place concrete structure and comprises an area of approximately 72,000 gsf of space on three floor levels. The renovation proposes to change the use of the building from science to a more general purpose administrative and academic use, while helping the College alleviate its current shortage of faculty office space. Significant improvements to the building envelope and exterior to improve energy efficiency and aesthetics will be a key component of the renovation. The renovated exterior should coordinate with the completed campus plan for exterior improvements. A new food service program is also envisioned for the building. Abate asbestos, remove chemical contamination and selectively demolish interior and exterior systems. Demolish existing and provide new mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical and communication systems as required to serve the new occupancy. Services include designing for a USGBC LEED New Construction (Major Renovation) Silver certification, exploration of innovative applications of technology that will help conserve the earth's resouces, design using a integrated team process including the use of Building Infromation Modeling (BIM), construction phasing and impact analysis, utility capacity analysis, pre-demolition survey and other services recommended to provide a complete design. Coordinate site and staging area impacts with the campus landscape plan being design by others. Coordinate with construction management and commissioning services provided by others. Construction documents should be complete and ready for bidding by February 2011.
