Preforming Arts & Technology Building

SUCF is seeking Statements of Qualifications from consultants to provide design services to construct a new Performing Arts & Technology Building. The facility will support Potsdam's goal of being an arts institution with a focus on the use of technology in the performing arts. This project will construct a free-standing Performing Arts and Technology Building to be located between the Crane School of Music complex and Kellas/Merritt/Timerman academic buildings. The new facility will relocate existing programs from outdated space scattered throughout the campus; combined with new technology based spaces, into a new central location. Major programming components include: Public and Front of House Spaces; Audience Chamber and Stage Faciltiies; Performance Support and Classrooms; Back of House Technical Support Spaces; Faculty and Administration Space. A Program Study was completed in 2006 which defined programmatic needs and provided a building location. To meet the campus schedule a "construction manager as agency" will be retained under a separate agreement. The project design will be advanced under a single consultant agreement team approach. Unique characteristics of the project will include: technologically advanced spaces to support academic and performance based excellence in the areas of: theater, dance and drama including related acoustic, lighting and IT equipment needs to meet the unique programming requirements. In accordance with SUNY's energy initiatives, the building will be designed to a minimum of LEED "silver" certifiable..
